Solar panels

Not all solar panels are created equal! There are cheap solar panels, value for money solar panels, and premium solar panels. We use Conergy solar panels and are proud to offer 2 different types to our customers - a value for money option, and a premium option. All Conergy solar panels come with a 25 year performance warranty, and are backed by Conergy Australia. You may have heard of Conergy before - they are joint co-sponsor of the Brisbane Lions Football Club.

Our value for money solar panel is the Conergy P 190M solar panels. These 190 watt monocrystalline solar panels are 14.9% efficient and come with a sturdy 45mm thick frame. Used in large-scale solar energy farms around the world, the Conergy P 190M solar panels come with a comprehensive five year local manufacturer’s warranty. These German-engineered panels are manufactured in China under Conergy’s supervision, and have extra thick 3mm glass to protect against hail. While they may be our value for money option, these solar panels are a no-compromise, quality solar panel that will outperform most other solar panels on the market in terms of durability, longevity and performance.

Conergy Conergy PowerPlus 250M solar panels are our premium solar panel offering. Manufactured in Conergy’s own plant in Germany, these 250W panels are made of premium components to produce a panel second-to-none in terms of quality and performance. They have a 46mm frame, 4mm glass front, and have a positive power tolerance of 3% (that is, they will produce 250W plus 3%). The solar panels are 15.4% efficient,  and are backed by a 12 year manufacturer’s warranty. When you want the best, the Conergy PowerPlus 250M panels are your only choice.

Solar inverters

Like solar panels, not all solar inverters are created equal either! Inverters are the heart (and one of the most expensive parts) of your solar power system and it’s not worth compromising on quality. Before settling on an inverter, it's worth reading our guide Understanding Solar Power Brands. We offer our customers a number of different quality inverters.

SMA inverters are quite simply the best in the world. Manufactured in Germany, SMA inverters have an unparalleled reputation when it comes to performance and reliability. SMA inverters are available in a range of sizes, and higher spec models come with dual maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and Bluetooth connectivity - enabling you to download solar power production information to your computer. SMA inverters are backed by an SMA back-to-base five year warranty, and SMA service is among the best we’ve ever seen. The last thing you want when you invest in a solar power system is to have a faulty inverter, effectively shutting your system down until it is repaired; we've installed thousands of SMA inverters, and can count the number of faulty inverters on 1 hand.

Aurora (Power One) inverters are ideal for installations where solar panels need to be spread over two different roofs of different orientations. Made in Italy, these inverters come with dual maximum power point trackers (MPPT) at the 3kW size (a function only available on SMA inverters at the 4kW and above size) enabling you to place panels on, say, a North and West roof without losing any production. With an interactive display and five year warranty, Aurora inverters are a great option for many people. Aurora inverters are also very reliable - many would say they are on par with SMA in terms of quality and reliability.

Conergy IPG inverters are manufactured in Germany and designed to work perfectly with Conergy PowerPlus 230M solar panels. These inverters recently won a coveted ‘A+’ rating from Photon magazine, a trade journal for the solar power industry. This highest quality inverter comes with a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty, and is also available with monitoring solutions. You can watch a video of the manufacturing process here.

Solar power system size

Size matters when it comes to solar power. Ideally you want to match your solar power production with your energy consumption, provided you have the roof space and the budget. For example, say you use 30kW of power a day. A 1.5 kW system will only generate around 6kW a day or 20% of your power needs. In this instance a 5kW system producing around 18kW a day or 60% of your power needs will produce a better result. By the time you factor in feed-in tariff savings, a 5kW system may even completely eliminate your bill.

If you can’t afford a larger system now, consider a system with a larger inverter to which you can add panels to later. And don't be fooled by solar panel wattage - 6x 235W panels will produce 1410W, and 8 x 190W panels will produce 1520W - and they will generally take up the same amount of space on your roof. Deciding on your ideal solar power system size is ultimately a decision based on your budget and available roof space. Your Neco Advisor can help you determine the best solar power system size for your needs.

Solar power system matching

Putting together a solar power system is not as easy as it looks! Panels and inverters need to be carefully matched to ensure maximum production and efficiency. Great care also needs to be taken with respect to panel and inverter placement to ensure estimated yields are achieved. The process of creating a solar power system requires skill and careful consideration.

Our solar power system designers take all of this into account when planning and installing your solar power system. Every component, from the panels to the grade of cable, has been carefully selected to ensure you get the most out of your solar power investment. Our solar power system installers have been carefully trained in the ‘Neco Way’ to so that your installation won’t only look great, but it will also last. View our range of solar power systems.

Solar power monitoring

Most inverters come with a fascia panel containing an LCD display showing vital information about the status and performance of your solar power system. However, checking an inverter outside is not always easy, and solar power production is only half the picture when it comes to the efficiency of your solar home.

Neco offers a range of monitoring solution designed to give you the bigger picture when it comes to solar power. For example, we can set up monitoring solutions that can wirelessly show your solar power production, and the amount of energy consumed in your home. Solutions such as the SMA Sunny BeamWattson Meter and Efergy Meter are ideal for this. The inbuilt Bluetooth technology in selected SMA inverters also offers useful monitoring information when paired with a computer connected to the SMA Sunny Explorer website. For larger installations, we can also provide complete monitoring solutions utilising large LCD screens ideal for foyers and other buildings where promotion of your solar investment is important. These solutions also facilitate data logging so you can track the performance of your solar power system over time.
