The campaign against putting a price on pollution is becoming hysterical. People are being told their cost of living will skyrocket and this Saturday, the scaremongers are planning a rally outside Prime Minister Julia Gillard's electorate office in western Melbourne. The Melbourne anti-climate action rally is the first of several "no carbon tax" rallies across the country, and threatens to derail positive momentum in our Parliament. The ACF rally will be on the same morning, in a different place.

Australians can spot a scare campaign when they see one. Seventy per cent of people agree that business lobby groups "run scare campaigns on jobs and electricity prices to protect their members from paying for the pollution they create." (Auspoll, June 2010) Electricity prices are set to rise due to infrastructure upgrades and changes, like $50 billion for new poles and wires. This is completely separate to putting a price on pollution.

Bring your family, bring your friends. Let's show them that we don't buy the scare campaign. We do believe that a pollution dependent economy is not safe for our children, and we do believe that with a cleaner economy, Australia will thrive. Register for the rally here.
