We were happy when the Australian Government announced the Home Insulation Program (HIP), as installing insulation is the easiest and most cost effective way of reducing the amount of energy used to heat and cool a home, which in turn reduces greenhouse gas emissions. As such, Neco invested heavily in the HIP and in six months installed insulation in over 2,000 homes, saving householders an estimated $300,000 in heating and cooling bills per annum, and an estimated 278,000 ‘black balloons’ of carbon per annum, bringing us to the forefront of sustainable living.
However, the Australian Government failed Neco, the insulation industry, and the Australian people in its bungled execution of the HIP. There were no controls, no training, no checks on dodgy operators, and no accountability. The death of four young workers was completely unacceptable. Quite simply, the HIP was a catastrophic failure of implementation. Neco is now rebuilding its insulation business and would love to install insulation in your home.
