What Is BlueGen
What is BlueGen?
BlueGen is a mini power station for homes and other buildings. It is a box about the size of a dishwasher. It uses ceramic fuel cells to convert natural gas into power and heat. The power is used for the home and exported to the power grid. The heat is used to make hot water in a separate tank. BlueGen has very high efficiency and very low emissions: it’s carbon emissions are about two-thirds lower than the Victorian grid power.
What servicing is required for BlueGen
BlueGen is designed to last the same time as a hot water unit – typically 10-15 years. The exact requirements for regular maintenance depend on a number of factors – such as the operating time, operating conditions, quality of the input fuel and water and so on. Basic maintenance items are to change the water filter, air filter and gas de-sulphuriser. Major maintenance items are to change the fuel cell stack. BlueGen units will be sold with a support and maintenance service.
Where can I buy one?
Neco is the exclusive distributor and installer for BlueGen in Australia. The product offering and pricing models for BlueGen are being finalised by Neco. As costs are higher in small volumes, early units will likely be sold to larger customers, like energy utilities and Governments, for demonstration projects. As costs come down the product will be marketed to residential customers.
